Here is Asim, 5, completing anzan (mental abacus).  Asim started learning the soroban in January last year using the Puffin books series.  He started coming for lessons in September last year.  Asim started learning his 2 times table about 3 months ago.  He now knows all his times tables and is able to complete 2 by 1 digit multiplications mentally by imagining the soroban beads.
